This is not my next post from Stephen Spender

Spender’s book The Year of the Young Rebels is still at home, and I’m still waiting to get back into it.  A video I saw  this morning might nudge me there.

I’m using facebook for Jardin des Amis, the Eunice community garden, and so also checking my own page far more often than I need too. This morning a colleague had posted a link to last December’s honoring of Led Zeppelin by the U.S. President. (Why do Kennedy Center honors go to Brits and Russians? I guess art knows no borders.)  At video’s end, John Bonham’s son bows to the three original band members, but from its beginning the music literally rocked the house.

And I remember that song from high school, on one of the first records I bought without knowing what it sounded like. What a choice. “Stairway to Heaven,” indeed.
