NaPoWriMo, April 6: the quality of society

The Quality of Society

It’s not the economy, stupid. It’s life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

We do not live by bread alone, though we do need bread.

WIth one coin, buy bread; with the other, a flower for the soul.

Then give the flower to another person without one.

The quality of our society depends on everyone else.

“if you want a society in which everyone has a decent life, you need to construct a society in which everyone has a decent life ….the quality of our society depends on what happens to everyone else.”

More wise words from one of my favorite public intellectuals, Paul Krugman. (“Down the Up Staircase.”  February 25, 2014, 10:25 am. The Conscience of a Liberal. http://krugman.blogs.nytimes.com/2014/02/25/down-the-up-staircase/?nl=opinion&emc=edit_ty_20140225.
